How To Put on a Bra

While everyone has their opinion on what’s the “right” way (ie, clasping and then twisting it around, or putting it on like a shirt), professional fitters will have you use the “ideal” Scoop ‘n’ Swoop method when first trying a bra to make sure the fit is correct.

Other methods can cause undue stress on your band and straps, potentially shortening the life of your bra. But if you are unable to clasp your bra behind you - do not worry. That’s fine. You can spin it around, so long as you start with the cups already upright, don’t flip your cups up. The wires do not like it!

The most important thing to remember, no matter how you do it, is to Scoop and Swoop. Shimmy into that bra.

Sleeping in Bras

A common question surrounded by many myths: Can I sleep in a bra? The answer is actually yes and no - yes, if you are for sure wearing the right bra size. If not, then no.

Sleeping in bras will not cause cancer or your breasts to be perkier, and sleeping without them will not cause them to be saggier. It’s nothing but a comfort and aesthetic personal preference! If you do sleep in a bra, try one that’s non-wired, or a sports bra or a bralette to allow for ease of movement that won’t cause pain when you wake up.

Washing Bras

How do I wash my bras, and how often should I? ****You should try to wash your bras every 3 wears, or 1-2 weeks! The best method to preserve their shape and size is hand-washing in cold water, or, put them in a lingerie bag or pillowcase and throw them in the washing machine on cold and gentle - check their instructions! NEVER PUT THEM IN THE DRYER - this can harm the elastic and the underwire.

If handwashing isn’t in the cards for you, but you still want to gently take care of your bras, an easy way that takes up no extra time is to simply shower while wearing the bra. Let it get wet, use a gentle soap or even a baby shampoo, and lay flat to try. For handwashing, a great beginner friendly soap that’s easier to use and lingerie friendly I recommend is Soak.
